Have you ever gone to the counselor’s office to see or make an appointment with your counselor? Well if so you might have seen the lovely Stephanie Betancur. She is the current secretary for Head counselor Danny Checo and an outstanding one. She has been working here at Colton High for 26 years and she has enjoyed them all. Betancur is a very kind and joyful person who loves to help. With the vast number of students and work that comes through all the time, no wonder she took the job.

Before working here she worked at Grant Elementary School in Colton as a classroom aide. Being a Colton High Graduate, she decided to come back to her Alma Mater and work with the students that lived in the community. Betancur enjoys her job very much: “I totally enjoy my job here at Colton High. How can I not? We have the best CHS kids ever not to mention the staff!” Even with the paper work and large amount of student coming in and out every day, she says her job is not that hard at all.

When asked about any hobbies she has she said, “I don’t knit or do anything like that but I do love to spend time with my family and friends.” To Betancur the most important things in life are her Christian faith and her family.  Betancur has become a large part of our school and continues to do an outstanding job. We hope to keep her here at our school helping our students for many more year. So if you are ever down in the counselor’s office, swing by her desk and give her a warm welcome.  She’s not hard to find–just look for the smiling face and laughter coming from behind the counter, and you’re there!

Our Goal

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
