Veterans celebrated at Colton City Museum

The history of our city is filled will amazing stories and people and for years the Colton Area Museum has been promoting this history to people and now our loving Museum has established a day just for the promotion of history, Colton Area Museum Day. This was made possible by Dr. Gonzalez and the people promoting the museum. He has been pushing for the city to declare this city holiday for some time now and it was finally pushed through.

To further promote the museum Dr. Gonzalez gathered World War II veterans for the visitors to meet. Many people who came greeted them and thanked them for their service in the war. Many of the veterans had extraordinary stories about their experiences on the battle field.

The museum was also filled with the art Eric Martinez who is a Colton High School graduate. His beautiful and unique art work was displayed for everyone to see and many awed at the site of some of his enormous paintings. The museum also displayed every Colton High School year book ever released and that was certainly a popular section of the museum. Dr. Gonzalez himself played his guitar for the visitors of the museum and the Colton High Jazz band played as well.

This Colton Area Museum Day was a complete success, and we hope to see more and more people getting involved in the celebration. Our museum is a big part of our community and it is wonderful finally have a city holiday for it.

Our Goal

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
